World’s ‘most luxurious’ airport – with its own 5-star hotel | Travel News | Travel

The airport experience can be a stressful one, with long waiting times, delays and airport security rules to contend with. But in some locations around the world, the time at the airport can be the extension of your holiday, with VIP lounges, luxurious bars, designer shops and even hotels.

A city known for its wealth and opulence, it’s perhaps no surprise that Dubai Airport was dubbed the world’s “most luxurious” airport earlier this year.

Dubai International Airport is one of the busiest airports worldwide, with over 87 million passengers transmitting through the flight hub in 2023.

Though it hasn’t been spared of its fair share of delays, with the storms in Dubai causing mass cancellations in April, it’s an airport that offers something a little different to the usual airport experience.

The airport was given the accolade of “most luxurious” by travel insurance providers AllClear which looked at 1,800 airports worldwide, giving each a score based on factors including the amount of lounges, designer shops, luxury amenities and how many four- and five-star hotels are within reach of the airport.

In Dubai Airport, you don’t even need to leave in order to stumble upon a five-star hotel. In fact, you need only head to Terminal Three to find Dubai International Hotel, also known as Hotel DXB, which offers five-star amenities in the heart of the bustling hotel.

Along with high-end rooms, the hotel also offers a relaxation pool, jacuzzis, steam room and fitness facilities. There are also some unexpected extras, including a make-up service on request and massage fairs in select rooms to help guests unwind after a long flight.

Dubai International Airport is the primary hub for Emirates and connects over 240 destinations across six continents with nearly 100 airlines.

As a result, the airport has over 30 lounges for passengers to relax between journeys.

Some are for passengers on certain airlines, others are open to any First or Business Class passenger. Select lounges even have sleeping facilities for those who have long layovers.

Passengers can also expect an array of spas and massage lounges to choose from, plus plenty of designer shops including Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Chanel.

When it comes to dining, as well as coffee shops and bakeries such as Costa and Paul Bakery, passengers looking for an opulent experience can visit one of the airport’s champagne or caviar bars. This includes a glamorous Moet & Chandon Champagne Bar.
