Vibe Fest set to spotlight plant-based Louisiana businesses, healthy lifestyle

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A local vegan restaurant is using their business as a platform to educate and promote other plant-based businesses in the area. They’re doing all of this Sunday with a free event called, Vibe Fest.

Nikki Thompson, owner of Veganish Vibes, which is a local restaurant in Baton Rouge that sells plant-based meals, emphasizes that the Baton Rouge vegan community is lacking something.

“The vegan community in a hole. We don’t get enough recognition,” Thompson said.

Which is why she is using her platform to host Vibe Fest, with hopes to spotlight other small plant-based businesses in the state.

“It’s a vegan pop-up shop. Every vendor here will be 100% plant based. They’ll range from fresh juices, sea moss gels. We will have fresh vegetables and microgreens,” Thompson said.

Kimberly Spruill is one of those vendors. With the event, she not only hopes to spotlight her business, Juicer’s Delight, that sells fresh cold pressed juices, but also educate others about healthy eating.

“I am all about encouraging people to just live a healthy, healed and whole life and having them understand that what we put in our bodies is so important,” Spruill said.

Thompson says you don’t have to be vegan to attend, just someone willing to have fun and ready to eat.

“People think that eating vegan food or being vegan is like, oh, I just eat grass or they’re tree huggers. No, we eat, you know, our flavor is not compromised. So, come out and get a gist of what we get to experience on a daily,” Thompson said.
