Mazda & Bricoleur Upshift Craftsmanship At Healdsburg Wine & Food 2024

Imagine a sunlit afternoon in Sonoma County, California, with the delicate aroma of fine wine, the craftsmanship of precision vehicles, and the tantalizing scents of culinary fusion. The collaboration of Bricoleur Winery & Vineyards, Mazda, and acclaimed Chef Diego Oka delivered an unparalleled sensory dining experience during the 3rd Annual Healdsburg Wine and Food Experience (held May 16-19, 2024). This unique event dubbed “Artistry in Japanese Culinary Mastery at Bricoleur Vineyards, Crafted by Mazda,” captured the essence of the Japanese concept omotenashi—a tradition of exceptional hospitality, ensuring that every guest felt not only welcomed, but deeply appreciated.

Fusion of Cultures

Chef Diego Oka is of Peruvian and Japanese heritage. This fusion was illuminated through the menu offered during the sold out event on May 17, 2024. His culinary masterpieces were more than just meals; they were intricate works of art, rich with a blend of flavors and techniques that highlighted his unique background. Each plate showcased a meticulous attention to detail, embodying the craftsmanship cherished by both Bricoleur and Mazda.

From the delicate balance of ingredients to the exquisite presentations that were almost too beautiful to eat, every aspect of the dining experience celebrated the amalgamation of cultures and the artistry behind it. Chef Oka’s creations were not just visually stunning, but also delivered an explosion of flavors that transported diners to the streets of Lima and the bustling markets of Tokyo – a real testament to his exceptional skill and the harmonious blend of his dual heritage.

Mazda’s Role in the Sensory Experience

Mazda’s participation in the event introduced an element of sophistication and innovation, perfectly complementing the culinary and wine offerings. The sleek and stylish design of Mazda’s new 2025 CX-70 vehicles stood as a demonstration to the brand’s commitment to excellence, mirroring the elegance and complexity of the gourmet dishes and fine wines presented by Chef Oka. Just as crafting a fine automobile requires precision and care, each dish and wine showcased the dedication and style of their creators. The parallels between Mazda’s design philosophy and the art of gastronomy were striking, underscoring the importance of fastidiousness and the relentless pursuit of excellence in creating unforgettable experiences for attendees. This synergy highlighted how different forms of artisanship can come together to create a truly exceptional and immersive event.

Together, Mazda and Bricoleur Vineyards curated a dinner in Healdsburg built around the Japanese concept of omotenashi, which is centered on creating moments of genuine happiness for guests in every interaction. We hosted an event that went beyond the amazing food we enjoyed, but focused instead on the wholeness of the experience. From custom-etched wine bottles to hot towels offered in between courses, this dinner was the embodiment of omotenashi for guests of the event and it was incredibly rewarding for us as hosts,” says Brad Audet, CMO of Mazda North American Operations. “Mazda vehicles are thoughtfully designed with drivers in mind. Much like our winery partner in Healdsburg, Bricoleur Vineyards, we seek to elevate our consumers’ experience.”

The “Artistry in Japanese Culinary Mastery at Bricoleur Vineyards, Crafted by Mazda” dinner was an exemplification to the transformative power of innovative collaborations in the hospitality world. By combining the expertise and creativity of Mazda’s partner chef, Chef Diego Oka, the precision of Mazda, and the welcoming spirit of omotenashi, the event set a new standard for fine dining immersions. Every year Healdsburg Wine and Food improves and expands more than what’s in our wine glasses or on our plates; it increases the experiential element through unforgettable events.
