KUWAIT CITY: Expats should pay special attention to passport matters before going to Kuwait. Kuwait has banned traveling to the country with two passports (old and new) after renewing a passport from the country. There are certain things that must be done when renewing an expired passport.

You should send two copies of your updated passport to the company where you are employed or to sponsor. A copy of one of the civil ID proofs is also required to be updated.

After updating it, a civil ID payment fee of five Kuwaiti dinars must be paid. After that you can travel only after the new passport number is updated on the Kuwait Mobile ID.

Currently, verification is done with the address of the civil ID, so the mobile ID will be opened only if the original address is updated. Therefore, it is advisable to try to renew your passport from Kuwait itself to avoid other difficulties.

The concerned authorities have clarified that expatriates renewing their passports should take special care to complete the prescribed procedures to avoid travel hindrance and other difficulties for expatriates.
