Downtown Tonight: Final Food Trucks, Author Talk, and Friends of the Library’s Annual Meeting
I’m writing this post with both of my “hats” on, both for MySouthborough and as the President of The Friends of the Southborough Library.
For the Friends, I’m encouraging the public to help vote in the board at our Annual Election tonight and to join first to hear from guest author M. Jandreau. That’s at 7:00 pm in the Library tonight (Wednesday, June 12th).
But I’m also reminding readers that whether you are joining us or have other plans tonight, you can also enjoy dinner out on the lawn across the street this beautiful evening, one more time this season. It’s the last night of the Food Truck Festival (in swing as I write this).
Food Truck Festival
Tonight’s Food Truck lineup is:
Food Trucks are on the St. Mark’s School field at the corner of Routes 85 & 30 until 7:00 pm. The event is put on by the Southborough Rotary Club.
Swing by Rotary’s table to make a donation to their “Food For Thought” scholarship fundraiser and you can get a voucher from Main Street Bank to give out vouchers to the food trucks in exchange for donations to their scholarship fund. (Click here to learn more.)
Friends’ Annual Meeting with Guest Author
The Friends of the Southborough Library is inviting members and the community to join us for the Author Talk to kick off tonight’s Annual Meeting.
Jandreau will talk about his experiences as the self-published author of four novels, and his latest work “My Best Friend, Marty”.
On his website, he promotes that the half hour talk will cover:
the art of writing, publishing, marketing, and (hopefully) selling a book.
I’ll discuss the entire process, from ideation to writing a million drafts, to publishing through Amazon and other services, and then shouting from the rooftops about your book.
Jandreau will also be available after his talk to sign copies of his books.
As the library promotes, the board will also be celebrating “a successful year of supporting library services and inventive fundraising with the community”. And we’ll talk about our upcoming plans and how community members who support the library can volunteer to help out.
That will be followed by the Friends regular business meeting (where we vote on funding requests and discuss logistics for upcoming fundraisers) and ask members to elect The Friends’ board for the coming year. (If you aren’t already a Friends member, you can click here to sign up. Just Select Membership from the pull down list rather than donation. Or click here to learn more.)
