CCE celebrates local women in food with annual event

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – A unique tasting event is returning to Broome County.

Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) Broome County is hosting the 2nd Annual Women of Food event on June 20 at the Broome County Regional Farmers Market. The event celebrates local women-owned businesses and will highlight four entrepreneurs who run their food businesses out of the CCE Broome Commercial Kitchen.

From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., guests will be able to enjoy food, beverage, and dessert tastings from Maria Hall of Boricua Soul Catering & Sweets, Amy Wieber of Flaming Bag Catering, Soojung Lee of Seoulful Foods, and Chantay Skrine of Sweetay’s LLC. In addition to the tastings, five other local women-owned businesses will be offering a variety of desserts and beverages There will be live music from local singer-songwriter Alyssa Brigiotta as well as a chance to win a basket filled with products from women-owned businesses featured at Taste NY.

“We are very proud to showcase the remarkable talents and contributions of these incredible women in our community,” said Noelle Palmatier, Event Coordinator of CCE Broome County. “The commercial Kitchen has been instrumental in creating broader opportunities for these chefs and other small businesses. This event celebrates their hard work, determination, and creativity and highlights how the CCE Broome Commercial Kitchen’s resources and space have enabled them to grow, thrive, and reach new markets. It’s an opportunity for the community to come together and support these inspiring entrepreneurs who have paved their own path and to encourage other women to do the same.”

The Broome County Regional Farmers Market is located at 840 Upper Front Street in Binghamton.
