Polish cuisine typically includes meat in almost all of their delicacies. Game meat, chicken and pork are some of the most popular. It has lots of influence from its bordering countries: Germany, Ukraine, Hungary and Russia.

Polish food tends to be very rich and seasoned compared to other European cuisines. Common ingredients are beetroots, sauerkraut, cucumbers, kohlrabi, sour cream and smoked sausages. Other staple ingredients are cereal grains, mushrooms, cabbage and potatoes.

The popular desserts are typically pastries and cakes. Due to the wide variety of ingredients used in traditional Polish dishes, they tend to take a considerable amount of time to prepare.
