Conceicao, who previously managed the Cameroon national team, has expressed interest in the role following the resignation of Peseiro in February. Initially, the NFF opted for local coach Finidi George, but the decision appears to be under reconsideration.

Conceicao has been inactive since departing from his position with Cameroon in 2022. Although he aimed to return to his former role in Cameroon, he did not secure the job.

The 62-year-old brings a wealth of experience in African football, notably leading Cameroon to a third-place finish in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
