Katy Perry announces new music in tiny crochet bikini & metal legs

It didn’t take a detective to predict new music was coming from Katy Perry. The clues were littered all over her social media feeds, after all. Well, we’re happy to report the wait is finally over. Four years (!!) after her last musical release, Katy confirmed KP6 was on the way with news that the first single, ‘Woman’s World’ will be released on 11 July. SO. SOON.

Sure, the wait isn’t quite over yet. But her announcement – made via Instagram with a promo pic of the single cover artwork starring the singer – does give us something to obsess about straight away. Namely, her outfit.

In the shot, Katy can be seen wearing a teeny tiny white crochet bikini, her micro halterneck triangle top flashing major underboob. She’s paired the beach attire with hip-high muscular metal leg coverings to create the effect of a part robotic centaur-like creature.

It’s not not a look… Check it out for yourself:

Katy’s metal legs are from French designer and CGI artist, Victor Clavelly. As well as working with brands including Rick Owens, Clavelly’s eponymous label sees the designer regularly experiment with sculptural forms, sci-fi chic a reoccurring theme throughout his collections.

It’s also not the first time Katy has opted for an architectural ensemble. Many of her American Idol looks during her final season consisted of metal garments, from the spaceship metal top that actually broke during filming to her gold breastplate.

While we initially mourned the end of the TV singing series as it meant no more fire lewks from our fave judge (soz Lionel Richie), Katy’s announcement signals there is so much yet to come from this new era. Bring on KP6!
