UVA Community Credit Union hosting food drive

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – The University of Virginia Community Credit Union hosting a food drive.

It’s accepting non-perishable items until June 22.

The donations are in partnership with the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank and Louisa Community Cupboard.

The Vice President of UVA Credit Union Marketing, Michelle Simon, says they take this seriously.

“Hunger is one of the pillars we want to support in our community. We realize that this is a major problem as a community. Looking at a statistic here that the food bank had given us, but one in 12 families are struggling with putting food on the table,” Simon said.

After the food bank ends the UVA Community Credit Union plans to donate $10,000 to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank.
