2nd Siouxland Food Festival brings yummy bites for good cause

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) – Siouxland residents came together for good food, a fun time, and a great cause on Saturday afternoon. The Food Bank of Siouxland hosted the Siouxland Food Festival at the Seaboard Triumph Foods Expo Center.

Folks were able to enjoy Siouxland’s diverse food scene with bites from Crumb., Pub 52, Hy-Vee, Kahills, Karla’s Catering, Malli’s on Wheels, Hawks Coffee Shop, Mateo Kitchen & Catering, and Big Papa’s Grub on the Run.

This was the second annual food festival and the Food Bank says they’re grateful for the turnout.

“To see the community come out and say they support what we do is just, it’s humbling and it’s really cool,” said Valerie Petersen, associate director of the Food Bank of Siouxland.

Part of the proceeds from the festival will go to the Food Bank to help the 1 in 9 community members who face food insecurity.

“We’re just really thrilled with everyone showing their support and we’re happy with how it’s going,” said Petersen. “We’re happy to do what we can to bring the community together and to make sure that everybody in Siouxland has food.”

Along with the food, those in attendance were able to participate in several raffle drawings, yard games, and the newly added Bocce Ball tournament.
