The Only ‘House Of The Dragon’ Season 1 Recap You Need To Watch Before Season 2 Tonight
House of the Dragon returns to HBO as part of a big, big month for TV, which has also brought us The Boys, Bridgerton and more to come. HBO may not be able to perfectly replicate the success of Game of Thrones on the same scale, but season 1 of House of the Dragon was impressive, and its return for season 2 will likely do very well.
Since season 1 aired in 2022, and here we are almost two years later, I would not blame you if you forgot a whole lot of stuff. There may be some short recap before the show tonight, but if you want a longer look at things, there’s a video from Max itself that you can watch here that condenses the season down to 13 minutes total:
As a reminder we are not doing any more huge time skips where the cast is going to be replaced. That happened midway through the season as older versions of the Targaryen and Hightower clan were recast, but Emma D’arcy and Olivia Cooke are here to stay. Well, unless one of them dies. I don’t think one of them is going to die. Not for a while, in any case.
If that 13 minutes is not enough for you and you want even more detail, sure, there are other, third party videos you can fit in before the premiere tonight. This one is by OneTake, is nearly an hour long and contains some extra Targaryen history you may want to see:
Or perhaps you have no time, not even 13 minutes. Well, here you go, 60 seconds, though I would expect the “previously on” scenes before the episode to be even longer than that:
House of the Dragon has already been renewed for a third season, but that will likely not air for two more years, and we’re not sure how long the show is meant to continue. We have at least two more Thrones spin-offs in the works out of a half dozen concepts that were spun around, but almost all appear to be prequels with a Jon Snow sequel show from Kit Harrington reportedly shot down at this point. The next closest one will be A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which may end up airing between seasons 2 and 3 of House of the Dragon. See you tonight!
