In honor of Juneteenth and Father’s Day Weekend, more than 150 members of Black fraternities and sororities are gathering on Friday, June 14, in Aurora to distribute food to those in need.

The third annual Juneteenth Food Distribution Drive-Thru at Phillips Park will provide food for a thousand families.

The Aurora Divine 9 Alliance, a collective of suburban members of the nine historically Black fraternities and sororities, is collaborating with the City of Aurora and the Northern Illinois Food Bank to host the food distribution.

Beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, June 14, boxes of meat, produce, and dairy will be provided in a drive-thru format to 1,000 families.

No registration needed. Identification is not necessary. Families can come from anywhere. First come, first served.

In addition, random cars will be selected to receive gift cards.

The line forms early at the Smith Boulevard entrance to Phillips Park, 1000 Ray Moses Drive on Aurora’s eastside.

Traffic will be managed by the Aurora Police Department, the Aurora Emergency Management Agency, and the Citizens Police Academy of Aurora Alumni Association.

The Juneteenth Food Distribution Drive-Thru is one several activities hosted by the City of Aurora. For a full list of activities, visit www.aurora-il.org/Juneteenth2024.
